" MSD leading India in 2019 world cup would be very surprising ": Saurav Ganguly

IPL 2016 Analysis
"Every cricket team in the world plans their future. But my question to the selectors is three-fours years down the line, do they see MS Dhoni as captain of India? Dhoni has been fantastic in the way he has gone about his job as captain, but does he have the ability in next four years to see India into the World in 2019," Ganguly told India Today.
Ganguly said that there is still a lot of cricket left in 34 year old MS Dhoni. He should continue to play limited over cricket as India needs him.
"I am not saying he needs to quit cricket, I feel he should continue to play in the shorter formats of the game. India still need him in the limited-overs cricket," he concluded.
Ganguly feels if Dhoni continues to lead the side till 2019 world cup then it would be 13 years which may be too much as a skipper.
He added :" Nobody is perfect, but MS Dhoni has been great as a captain ".
"Dhoni has been captain for nine years, which is a long period. Does he have it in him to go for another four years? He has already given up Test cricket and now plays only ODIs and T20s," Ganguly said.
Dhoni has lead the Indian side two times in the World Cup (2011 and 2015) while former captain Mohd Azharuddin is the only Indian player to have captained the side in three world cups (1992, 1996 & 1999).
Ganguly also praised India's Mr. Consistant Virat Kohli and in the form he is in every format of the game. He praised Virat's mental and physical toughness.

"Virat Kohli is getting better every time. He is probably the best in the world in terms of consistency. His mental energy, tenacity is unreal. His attitude on the field is superb. His record as Test captain has been good. So the selectors need to find an answer to whether they see Dhoni leading India in 2019? If the answer is no, then find a new captain. If the answer is yes, which I will find very very surprising, Dhoni continues," he said.
It would be very interesting to see how Dhoni goes from here. He has seen highs in his initial career and lived with that now how he would be managing his lows from here on and deals with the growing pressure of Indian spectators, critics will be very interesting to see. So lets see what happens. Till then keep coming to thecricketangle.com.
